Robin Sockness

Your Canine Life Coach

Pets are family members. And as such, to be integrated into the home with the highest possible happiness factor, a “canine life coach” is needed! Robin Sockness, a former resident of Fayette County for 20 years, now residing in Sharpsburg (Coweta County), has been working with animals her entire life. She knew from childhood that she had a natural attraction to dogs and the psychology of how they operate and relate to the world. She grew up in a home where her parents both rescued dozens of dogs, rehabilitated them and made them wonderful family pets. She is an co-director of JCCARE, a Japanese Chin Rescue Group and vice-president of St. Nick’s Closet.  She empowers people to create a happy, healthy relationship with their dogs. She is a canine life coach, helping your dog become your best buddy. Robin teaches puppy classes for dogs 9-20 weeks of age and provides private consultations for all age dogs which teach dog owners how to implement a behavior modification program suited for their specific needs based on the science of how dogs learn.

Robin and her husband have three dogs:  KaeJae, a Jack Russell terrier mix, Reo and KiKu, who are Japanese Chins.  Robin has over 10 years of experience as a force free trainer and is a member of the Association of Pet Dog Professionals and the Pet Professional Guild.  Above, Robin is holding 3 adorable clients, Fancy Pants and Suzi, with Winston on her shoulder.

Our Services

Puppy Primer Private Coaching

Have you acquired an older dog and need help with life skills or training issues?  Do you have a new puppy and you need help before our classes begin?  We can help! Puppy Primer is a 60-90 minute private coaching session at your home, tailored specifically for the needs of newly acquired dogs.

Puppy Classes

We offer “fun-dation” puppy classes in both Peachtree City and Fayetteville.  Our classes incorporate fun games as part of the training, which keeps puppies engaged and ready to learn.  Upon completion of Puppy 1, you can join Puppy 2 to ensure your puppy develops good habits.

Private COACHING

Behaviors addressed include: house-training, jumping, digging, chewing, destructiveness in general, fear, separation anxiety, etc. We rely 100% on science-based training methods instead of punishment for behavior modification. Private coaching is scheduled in your home.

Feisty Fido Instruction

Do you have a feisty Fido that pulls on the leash or is leash reactive?  Being on a leash in a public setting can be stressful. Pulling, barking and/or lunging while on leash is frustrating for owners and makes for an unpleasant walk for the dog. We can help you!

HOUNDS AROUND TOWN

Join Robin with My Best Buddy Dog Training’s newest program: Hounds Around Town. In this program, you will go on fun outings in public places and learn how to have your dog enjoy it just as much as you do. Each outing will last about an hour and take place in local, dog-friendly locations where Robin will show everyone how to improve or practice their dog’s manners away from home.

Harmony with your dog

Our Mission

The mission of My Best Buddy Dog Training is to effectively teach dog owners how to build a positive relationship with their dog so that they may train them in a positive and non-punishing way to promote success.

We achieve this mission through customized training that is: positive, motivational, balanced, challenging, fun and rewarding for both humans and their dog.

We specialize in puppies, working with dog owners in developing a relationship based on trust, bonding and mutual respect.

I knew that I wanted a positive training atmosphere for my boxer pup that used praise rather than devices to get the desired behavural results and that is exactly what I got with My Best Buddy Dog Training. Robin is amazing! She is knowledgeable, friendly and patient – not only with my pup, but with myself. The classes are very informative, relaxed and more importantly FUN! I thoroughly enjoyed the program and my pup was always excited to be there. I highly recommend.

“As a practicing veterinarian in the Peachtree City area, I am pleased to have a dog trainer and behaviorist to be able to work with and recommend to my clients. I have been very satisfied with the conscientious approach Robin has taken with the clients I’ve referred. The feedback I’ve gotten from my clients about her training has been great.

I will continue to strongly recommend Robin to my clients for new puppy training and problem dog behavior.”

Robin joined our behavioral/training referral team when we opened our new facility in 2017. We made it a point to find the best fear free/pain free trainer in our area. Our goal as a practice is to provide the best experience for our patients which includes their emotional wellbeing. We started with puppy classes for little ones, under 4 months old, to start off on the right foot. As our relationship has grown we have utilized Robin’s skills for many of our clients, from puppies to adults. Fayette County is lucky to have Robin to call upon with any of their behavioral/training needs. We strongly suggest all pet parents give pain free/positive reinforcement relationship building a chance to build that indestructible trusting bond. Sherri Ray, DVM ~Fayetteville Animal Hospital
